Happy Birthday Daddy!

Happy, Happy Birthday to a great Daddy! Today was Gabe's birthday and we tried to make it really special. Sadie has been super excited about planning a party for him. She is so into birthdays. We went yesterday and picked out some plates and we had to get party hats to match. Of course, everything is pink. I told her it was going to be a surprise so we hid them in a drawer in her room. As soon as Gabe walked in from running yesterday, Sadie said, "Daddy, do you want to see what I got you?" ( She doesn't quite understand the whole secret, surprise thing.)

Anyway, Jenny brought over some yummy cake balls that we had after dinner for our, "party." Sadie said we all had to wear our party hats and she decorated the table. I found some candles that worked out perfectly and we had a fun little party. She directed the whole thing from the candles, passing out the plates, and the singing. Sadie kept saying, "Happy Dirthday Dad" and Claire would get excited with her party hat too. At the end, Sadie said, "Daddy, this is the best dirthday party ever!" I have to agree.

To the best daddy ever,
Thanks for being such a trooper and enjoying your super pink birthday party. You are such a great husband and father and I'm so grateful for you. Hope you had a good day and enjoyed your birthday.
Love,
The girls

Yummy, yummy cake balls. Thanks Jenny!

And the lovely table decorations. Maybe she has a future in event planning. Her first party was definitely a success!

The perfect class

So Sadie has decided that she likes to play, "I be the teacher, you be the class" in her room. Otherwise known as, "school" to most of us. Anyway, she loves being her teacher, Miss Diane. She will sit in her rocking chair, cross her legs, and drink her "coffee". She talks in a squeaky high voice (which her teacher does not) and says, "We're going to read a book now" or "We're going to go to centers now." She then will tell her class where they need to go. The second picture is her, "class." Claire is not always the most compliant or eager as you can tell from the picture. Sadie will say, "Chair, sit down." or "No, Chair." Pooh and Minnie Mouse seem to be the ideal students. It is fun to watch and fun to see them playing together.

...and her class. If we could only hear what Claire's saying in her head.

Spring break is here and we are super excited. Hopefully, I'll take some good pictures this week and get them posted.

Family Pictures

When Claire turned one, we wanted to get some pictures taken and we actually got it done a couple weeks ago. Our friend Amy took the pictures and did a great job. Thanks so much Amy, we love them! Oh, and thanks to my wonderful husband for organizing and scheduling with Amy. I've been a little busy lately and all I had to do was get everyone dressed and show up. A mom can't ask for much more than that.

Here are some of our favorites...

Oh Man!

A funny Sadie story that just needs to be remembered... When I picked her up from school last week she was saying, "booty, booty, booty!" in the car just being silly. I told her that we didn't need to say that and that sweet little girls didn't talk about booties. She said, "Mama, boys say booty, booty?" I replied, "They might." She then says, "What do girls say?" Being caught off guard I said, "Flowers and princesses." A little while later we going to the store and Sadie asks again, "Mama, boys say booty booty and girls say flowers and princesses?" Trying not to laugh I say, "Yes." A couple seconds later Sadie says, "Oh Man!"

Oh how I love that sweet girl!!!

Our Little Blueberry

One of Claire's favorite foods these days has become blueberries. Actually, I would say that her favorite food is blueberries. She LOVES them and will eat them until we stop giving them to her. She started eating them at Nana and Big Daddy's house while we were there and hasn't really stopped. If she wants some and knows they are in the refrigerator she will whimper until she is picked up and then point to the refrigerator until you walk over there. When you open the door she leans in and points to the blueberries and whimpers again until she gets some. It can be quite pitiful at times. She is so excited when we get them out after she eats her food. Here are some pictures of our little blueberry after a yummy spaghetti dinner.

Christmas Day

Christmas morning at the Gillespie house started very early. Sadie was ready to go at 5AM, but Nana and Big Daddy held her off until 6:30 when Josh and Brianna got there. She was super excited to see what Santa had brought her. It was a great day with family and a blessing to be together.

A picture I was thankful to snap while they were both looking in the general direction of the camera. :) Not exactly the most lady like picture, but I think it's cute anyway.
